Wait, what? Prerequisites for a blog?
Yes. I’m trying to save you some time, actually. 🙂 You need to know what my assumptions are before you dive too deep or I will probably just make you angry.
First, as I mentioned in the “About” page, I am a follower of Jesus, and a fairly old one at that. I crossed the 60 year threshold this year. I did not grow up in a Christian home–my parents rarely went to church. But in my early teens I chose to attend a church a few hundred feet away from my house.
Since faith was never “shoved down my throat”, I took each step in my relationship with Christ with the zen of the beginner (an ironic turn of phrase, but I stand by it). Many who grew up in the church may have not given much thought to many doctrines and elements of the faith, but I had to. I didn’t know any better. 🙂
As I address certain issues, my teaching will probably sound incredibly radical. For your own good, I beg you to avoid anger and knee-jerk reactions. That’s the first prerequisite. The claim of Christ on our life is quite radical and he made a lot of people angry in his day. If I faithfully pass on his teachings, I will undoubtedly engender a similar response.
The second underlies the first:
The biggest prerequisite of all is that you be committed to following the Way and willing to give your entire life to Yeshua, the messiah and Lamb of God.
I will be assuming this and the teachings on this blog are only fit for those who are of that “tribe”.
